The WWE has had several Indian wrestlers. In its ranks, right from the days of Tiger Jeet Singh to The Great Khali, However, there has never been a woman wrestler until Kavita Devi of Haryana broke that drought. The former champion power lifter trained under Khali.

Before making her WWE debut in the inaugural Mae Young Classic women’s tournament last month. WWE Talent Development Vice President Canyon Cayman had commended Devi for her performance.
“Kavita Devi gave a strong performance at WWE’s 2017 Dubai tryout,” he said, “She is an athletic and extremely strong woman who demonstrated a solid grasp of the fundamentals of sports entertainment, and a passion to improve that will serve her well in WWE’s upcoming Mae Young Classic tournament.”

Kavita hails from a small village in Haryana where there are almost no facilities for women athletes.
After doing her graduation, she joined the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), where she was recruited as a constable, and retired as a Sub Inspector.
In 2010, she left her job as a Sub Inspector at SSB to concentrate on her sporting career.
She is a former Indian powerlifter and a gold medalist in South Asian Games 2016.
